NYCC 08: REVENGE!!!

My old friend Amy Kibuishi and her husband Kazu Kibuishi, and Phil Craven stayed with us for the con so we totally had a full house! We brought out the sofa bed and air mattress and everything! The week was jam-packed with events, and I spent the weekend mostly running around. I didn't have a table so I just floated around the con, hangin out and signing every once in a while at the DC/Vertigo booth. I was on a few panels, the standout being the "Women in Comics" panel, which was just amazing. I've been on a dozen women in comics panels and at this point and they've gotten a bit redundant, but the moderator, Abby Denson, and the other panelists, Gail Simone, Heidi MacDonald, Karen Green, Jennifer Grünwald and Shelly Bond, gave great perspectives from every side of the industry. Great panel. Tons of people showed up and there were some great questions from the audience. :)

Friday was a blur. I ran into a lot of old friends, which is always really cool. We went out to eat with friends and then to the DC afterparty where we mulled around pretty good. Saturday was... a blur too! I should be taking notes at conventions because I can't remember anything that happened except that I went to dinner with Jim Lee and I met (breifly) Eduardo Risso and I think I almost passed out from the awesomeness. Then I got really tired and went home, heh...

Sunday was great because I got to have lunch with Jacopo Camagni and Marco Felicioni. Jacopo is an artist who's work I've admired for a while, so it was very cool to meet up face to face! Anyway, NYCC was alotta fun. Thanks to everyone who came out and said hi and everything, yeah! Next con will be MOCCA, where I'll have a table so I'll be easier to find :) Oh man where is the time going? San Diego will be upon us before we know it! AGHHH!

Wish I could've made it to NYCC this year, but too much stuff crept up on me and cancelled my plans. Ah, well, there's always next year!

There was a lot of awesomeness at that dinner on Saturday. I'm glad I got a chance to meet you. I'm sending you pictures to bring some of that blur into focus.

Just wanted to say thank you very much for the great Baron of Munchhausen sketch you did for me at the NYCC. It was great meeting you. Can't wait for Demo volume 2! :)
